Let's... try this again... WITH MORE MISERY!

Post by Bloodtrailkiller on Sat 24 May 2014, 7:01 pm

So, since my last attempt at a collaboration stood up only to get impaled by lack of initiative; let's try to go home to our radioactive, starving, depraved, and cannibalistic roots.

Apocalypse

Yes, the immediate and ultimatum of misery and sadness and betrayal and all that good stuff. We all seem to have loved that stuff in the past, and it's always a rather fun RP, even if it's overdone.

However, I think for this RP, we should try and make a few changes. We always had plenty of monsters in our apocalypse RPs, things we could identify as definate baddies no matter what; but maybe we should escalate this like an escalator.

Maybe no monsters this time; yeah? Humans are all fit to be monsters themselves; Greed, gluttony, lust, and rage are all very good at making humans worse than most monsters.
So mayhaps we could do that; toss in some plague or world war, and we got a nice mixing pot of apocalypse material.

Most of our past apoc RP's were focused around monsters, in the end. Even the ones that were supposed to focus on the badness of humans never really got to prioritize that badness; the zeds eventually popped in like the thorns they are and became the bad guys instead of the bandit who takes care of his family by killing other survivors.

So, in this one, we remove that variable entirely and focus only on the conflicts of humans.

It'll be a bit constricted, maybe like that one Metro-esque RP I made, but more set in the tunnels. Perhaps the early years of that event where topside was too radioactive to even think about going into without a million bullets worth of gear...

Anyhow; do collaborate, I'm eager to start RPing again

Maybe it was something that only eradicated people (think pure Neutron Bomb or bio-weapon) and the survivors were primarily those outside of major population centers. Decades passed and society is more or less dominated by towns competing over the remnant resources of any local overgrown cities, along with groups of highwaymen hunting those brave enough to venture into the ruins?

Tunnel Rats was nice; think I've gotten a nice boost in imagination and writing to be able to handle a revival.

Modified will no doubt have to happen, as I don't think the original Tunnel Rats is around...

Something Special:
It was far from surprising when the Norstrosi finally brought vengeance and war upon the Darkonians. Their leader, finally pushed by her people into war, recomissioning the Behemoth cannons and aiming them at Darkona; demanding to submit themselves to the Norstrosi.
Darkona responded by arming the thousands of missiles they'd procured over the years, demanding Norstros to stand down.
Neither were willing to bend the knee to the other, though still worried about the damage that would be brought; so the Norstrosi showed their firepower by turning their massive artillery to the Darkonian Allies; or those under its rule.
Norstros was not without its own allies, however, its sudden and daring defiance brought up others; such as Korrav and Edessa. Darkona targeted Edessa, likewise showing how deadly their own tools could be through intimidation.
The world was put into a stand off, for a few days. Finally, Norstros ever daring, let loose its first barrage on the remaining Darkonian allies. The results were devastating. 1205mm and 800mm shells rained from the sky in a deadly hail of fire and lead; all manner of shells were shot from the cannons, from Ironpride to Airburst, Darkona's allies were reduced to smoldering craters; the impacts causing large earthquakes and tsunamis in the surrounding areas.
Darkona followed suite; letting off the missiles near Edessa. The missiles were packed with similarly varying warheads; including warheads that would detonate near the atmosphere to create a hole in the natural shielding. While the initial damage wasn't as devastating as the Norstrosi's, it as definately more damaging over time.
The leaks in the atmosphere caused sudden and violent amounts of radiation that poured over Edessa: the heat microwaving the citizens and melting entire cities, creatures mutated and, often, exploded in sudden gorey seconds.
Darkona was left alone, after the shelling, and Norstros was cut from Edessa's immensely helpful supplies. Darkona wasted no time, however, in waiting for the Norstros to fire on Darkona itself, it let loose a sudden assault on Korrav with their missile-toting submarines. And, the Korran's without the aide of the Solunarians, were devastated by the sudden missiles erupting from the waters and flying towards the land.
The Norstrosi were taken by surprise, not expecting the sudden attack so soon. Their cannons were stressed as they turned them towards the Darkonian lands. The Darkonian's were expecting Norstros to bend as the last of their allies, excluding the Solunarians, fell. So, when the barks of Mjolnir and Behemoth cannons rang out over the land, it brought them surprise as the sky rained hot metal once more.
While most of the Darkonian populace ran beneath the ground, it was nowhere near as safe as they presumed. Late Ironpride shells, ones that had their rockets activate too late, ate into the ground and often broke into the tunnels beneath Darkona, where they exploded violently: the massive shells delivering their millions of billions of TNT explosive power in the tight corridors of the tunnels.
While Norstros appeared victorious of the new wasteland, a sudden explosion of plague erupted from all over the continent. Darkonian infiltration and sleeper agents released an insane amount of chemical material into nigh everything.
Sowing it into the ground, releasing it into water supplies, even raining it over cities from planes and helicopters. The Norstrosi suffered long and agonizing deaths; The few that survived retreated to The Iron Wall, where many refugees began to take shelter.

In the end, no one was victorious; the population of all on the planet was diminished to a small hundred.
However, Korrav was best prepared...
The missiles did not penetrate into their underground cities, not entirely. Larger ones had their roofs collapse due to the massive payloads delivered. The Korrans set up a council, to plan out the coming years.
Though, the human mind is susceptible to wild ideas, and is ever changing. The council barely lasted a year before the organization tore itself apart as realization set in. They were alone, for all their knowledge.
Edessian satellites occasionally fell and rocked the earth, often breaking over Edessa though randomly overall. The Metros of Korrav began to fall into disrepair, sections collapsing and generators falling to the mutated Gaia. Two years passed, of overall survival of the fittest, before settlements began to sprout.

Underground tunnels and cities
Metro Tunnels

In the end, there were four dominant factions; excluding the vigilantes of the metros. They were..
Royalists- Situated around the area around Gora, Altors, and Sayf.
Fascist- Who control the most land of all factions, Ke, Yio, and Pilla. However, not many within their territory are content.
Communist- Whom have the smallest territory. Controling the northeast mountains and Vehx.
Capitalists- Have access to old world factories in Coiki although they have taken several lives trying to get them operational.

It's possible. I believe the intial plot I was going to do is also reminiscient of Metro : Last Light.

Where there was a bunker held by a neutral group, the bunker being sort of a god-shelter with good defenses and limitless supplies. With the other factions teaming to get it through any means neccessary.

However, another plot could be a little linking to STALKER's elements of anomalies. Where there would be anomaly hunters with one 'god' anomaly.

I know I tend to work an RP's plot around the character's the players make...

May want to not step into supernatural territory yet... granted, some of those shells may have been magic but whatever. I'd be for anomalies, just not yet. Perhaps that could be a plot point, the gradual presence of anomalies in the tunnels that force more and more people to try and live topside.

Following the eventual Darkonian-Norstrosi War where Greater Darkona fought against Norstros and her allies, the geographic terrain of Bonyase was dramatically altered as both nations employed their feared superweapons against each other. The Norstrosi usedtheir own respective 800mm and 1205mm super railway cannons against Darkona and it’s allies, while the Darkonians and it’s subjugated people responded with ballistic missiles, tearing the world apart as billions of pounds of high explosives reigned across the globe. In Darkonian Ilver, artillery shells packed with napalm burned millions to death and destroyed millions of acres of lands, leaving nothing but a scorched landscape in place of the majestic Ilverian architecture and it’s thriving population. In Edessa, the Darkonian missiles heading towards it were packed with varying warheads; including warheads that would detonate near the atmosphere to create a hole in the natural shielding. The leaks in the atmosphere caused sudden and violent amounts of radiation that poured over Edessa: the heat microwaving the citizens and melting entire cities, creatures mutated and, often, exploded in sudden gorey seconds. Darkona itself was shelled, with large civilian centers and military installations being the targets of Norstrosi shells which devastated the landscape, with poisonous gas rounds being employed in some instances that killed off whole cities within a week.

Norstros was cut off from the valuable supplies of Edessa, as Darkona was left alone to deal with it’s own tragedies. Korrav was suddenly attacked a week later, with Darkonian submarines appearing off the coastline and unleashing their deadly barrages onto the country, completely devastating the surface population of Korrav and causing infrastructure damage to Korrav’s underground cities as tunnels collapsed and severed contact lines. At the same time, the celebrating Norstros received their own deadly surprise as Darkonian sleeper cells went active all over the country, using poisonous gas and chemicals to poison the air, water, and food sources of the mighty Norstrosi, causing them to have long and agonizing deaths with the remnants retreating to the Iron Wall to hole up. At the end of month-long conflict, a massive majority of the world’s population laid dead across the continent, with mutated beasts that were once called animals and surviving scavengers profiting tremendously from the surplus of meat on rotting corpses.

In Darkona, it’s militaristic nature caused survivors to rally to military leaders as civil war once again rocked the country, with it’s even more dangerous demons being awoken and causing only death, suffering, and famine to be known in the country. Edessa stood as an irradiated rock, with a small fraction of it’s population only able to escape to the seas where another proportion died from starvation before they arrived in Korrav. The continent of Bellum stood devastated as both Darkonian missiles and Norstrosi shells found the respective countries within and devastated their populations to the point of less than 10,000 inhabitants existing on the continent. Ilver remained a scorched hellscape, with few survivors wandering from their hiding places to attempt to begin life anew, as was the custom in Ilver. Korrav was the best prepared, with it’s metros being somewhat stabilized even though it suffered massive loss of life. The surviving Korrans set up a council, to plan out the coming years. The human mind is susceptible to wild ideas, and is ever changing. Along with the settlements came new survivors from the sea who had fled their home countries in hope of seeking a better life wherever they landed. These survivors posed formidable influence on the Korrans, and eventually factions began to emerge based on beliefs, not nationalities. Beyond the vigilantes in the metros, four factions emerged; the Royalists, the Communists, the Fascists, and the Capitalists. As people joined their respective factions or fled, ideological differences caused friction which eventually lead to an outbreak in violence as the savage nature of the survivors caused atrocities rarely seen in the civilized world to take hold. Among all the chaos erupting in the metro, life continued on at a staggered pace as already endangered sentient species faced the true possibility of extinction in Korrav.

Plot was rewritten by me, if it's not to your liking please edit it.

Kind of made it less of a word wall...

Following the eventual Darkonian-Norstrosi War where Greater Darkona fought against Norstros and her allies, the geographic terrain of Bonyase was dramatically altered as both nations employed their feared superweapons against each other.
The Norstrosi used their own respective 800mm and 1205mm super railway cannons and artillery against Darkona and their allies.
While, the Darkonians, and it’s subjugated people, responded with ballistic missiles; tearing the world apart as billions of pounds of high explosives reigned across the globe.
In Darkonian Ilver, artillery shells packed with napalm burned millions to death and destroyed millions of acres of lands, leaving nothing but a scorched landscape in place of the majestic Ilverian architecture and it’s thriving population.
In Edessa, the Darkonian missiles heading towards it were packed with varying warheads; including warheads that would detonate near the atmosphere to create a hole in the natural shielding...

Edessa stood as an irradiated rock, with a small fraction of it’s population only able to escape to the seas where another proportion died from starvation before they arrived in Korrav thanks to a few ferries forged from the remnants of their navy...

However, the human mind is susceptible to wild ideas... and is ever changing.

The council barely lasted a year before the organization tore itself apart as realization set in.
They were alone, for all their knowledge.
Edessian satellites occasionally fell and rocked the earth, almost alien to those who found and explored them; later becoming treasured by the scientists who remained and helped bring back a few technological advances.
The Metros of Korrav began to fall into disrepair, sections collapsing and generators falling to the mutated Gaia. Vents and other means to filter the radiation, shut down and the resulting areas became overriden.
Two years passed, of overall survival of the fittest, before settlements began to sprout forth from the crags and metros.

Mmm... true.

I think it's fine without the territory lines though.

These aren't entire countries that have many vehicles and resources available; there's just scraps that they're living off of.

And filters only last so long, so the only fortified points on topside are at spots where there's LESS radiation
