I made one. A predator. Very dangerous. It has like...thermal sensors and natural sonar.

I wanna hear it, mah boi. Although scrap the thermal. Sonar seems more natuaral in the caves, especially for adapting.

Ok, I will. I made the eye sockets black though. Also, I made 4 fish species. One is based off of the barracuda though. The others are original IMO.

My "land predator" is meant to be very dangerous. It can outrun a human, eaisly. But, to compensate they are rare and have a fairly long gestation period. Bout 4-5 months.

Yes. I guess. I was thinking there are medium sized caverns that contain the villages and towns that would be connected by tunnels. Then in the center we could have one HUGE cavern that takes days to cross. It could have streams and a river. And there would be a big mushroom tree forest with luminescent plants.

So, the beast I have in mind is dubbed 'Kraken' but it can easily be changed.
My idea was a sort of squid-worm thing that uses tentacles that lash out to drag it across at a terrifyingly quick speed. It has a gaping maw that opens up into a very cave-like appearance so many people walk in without knowing; walking straight into its stomach. It has a very slow digestion period and compensates by having extremely aggressive disease defense in the way it will fill the air inside it's stomach and literally, tear the victim down from skin and bone.the beast is massive in length and is rumored to devour entire villages. The Kraken boasts two massive eyes that are fixiated on its rear.
Several attempts by many have tried to kill it; often resulting in non-mortal wounds, the beast instantly slithering away into the depths.
It lives much like a shark; it can't stop moving and can eat through rock and a few metals. The Kraken has many mouths inside but they can be pulled in to appear like stalgtites and such. The teeth are razor sharp. The Kraken often kills its foes by slowly closing its mouth so as to keep it's bodily fluids and defense in.
The main way to figure out if your close to the Kraken is the smell of rotting flesh, dampened air, and the floor becomiing wet or slimey.
The Kraken often lies in wait; but, as said before, it can quickly cover ground with the tentacles that latch it on the caves walls. The beast wields a tough hide and a carapace that relates to rock, hence why explosives and cave ins haven't killed it.
it's shaped like a cone....

Re: Welcome to the Under Dark, adventurers!

._.

So...

I have a 4 legged wolf like creature. It's big. When standing on all 4 legs it's height goes up to mid-torso or even a bit higher. The front legs have 4 toed feet ending in claws. The back legs have hooves. It lacks a tail, but the strong back legs more than make up for that. It has a relatively long snout, so it has a powerful sense of smell. It lacks eyes and has sonar to make up for that.

I don't have a name for it.

So I was thinking there is one variant, the "short-tooth" version with normal teeth, and a "saber-tooth" version (self explanatory). Some have bony plates on certain areas of their bodies, and some lack these. Others might have all feet, or all hooves. Despite the differences they are all considered the same species, as all types can interbreed with each other.

Debating wether they can be domesticated or not. I thinking yes, but it should be extremely difficult and only the most highly skilled beast masters should try.

I also thought of a "cave-horse".

It's like a regular horse, except it has digitigrade legs. Again, it lacks eyes and relys on smell, hearing, and a sonar-like sense. It's a mammal, but lacks fur. Instead it has a tough leather-like hide. They are able to be domesticated, albeit they are more docile than the wolf thing. They connect to their riders, and remember their scent. So if their rider is killed, it's hard to get them to be comfortable with a different rider. They are either albino, blue, or they have blue and violet stripes.

It is thought they had lived on the surface at one point, but there isn't any fossil records anywhere else in the world except in the large cave system.

Interesting concept, Halo. It'll be done.

Now we just need incentive for people on the surface to go down besides riches. ;>
