Welcome to the Under Dark, adventurers!

During the extinction of the dinosaurs, a great meteorite falls and strikes Earth. The dinosaurs are wiped off the face of the planet, and with the destruction, an advanced nano-bot was dropped into the soil with one purpose. Dig. Yes, that is how the dinos went extincto, kiddies. During medieval ages, the seige of Black Castle revealed a mega chamber. The walls smooth, yet sharp. Exploring these tunnels, gold, silver, and many other metals are discovered in masses! Seizing the opportunity, these mines are mined out. But eventually, the walks in became too long to last less than a day.

So, towns were erected in the mega chambers. Along with metals, a strange oil lay in mighty pools. Dubber Everlight Oil, it illuminates every town chamber. Lasting for weeks, rarely months. But, eventually, the towns were forgotten by the people of the surface, and thus, left to die in a hole, literally.

But, they prevailed! Animals wandered the chambers, though not of the surface, they sufficed as food. They thrived, and advanced at faster rate then the people of the surface!

However, the people had conflicting thoughts... One faction, the Holy Black Guard, dubbed the tunnels holy lands from God, and were to be kept safe from "surface swine." The other faction, with no name, dubbed the tunnels free land, a place for adventure!

During the peak of this conflict, war was waged in the mushroom chambers, which is basically a mushroom FOREST. The mushroom fields were littered with thousands of bodies before a truce was made, and the two factions departed each other. The Holy Black Guard went into the deeper parts of the tunnels, never to be seen by the others again.

Another breach. After WWI, a group of miners accidently blew a whole into chamber. Below, there was a wrecked town, and many tunnels going in everywhich direction, save for up. The miners explored, and found the motherload of gold they were looking for. Upon return they were millionares!

Taking the opportunity to get rich quick, people delved into these caverns. Seeking fortunes, they stole whatever they could. This went on for three years before people started not comming back to the surface. Concerned, a military force is sent to investigate. When they return, all four survivors are put into a mental institution. They cried of monsters the which from fantasy. Zombies, skeletons, giant spiders, etc.

Taking the opportunity to greet the newcomers, the faction now named Keepers, welcomed them with open arms. Although they do not boast guns, they wore suits of armor, made of strong metals.

A mutual friendship developed between the Keepers and Surface Dwellers. But the Holy Black Guard, seeing new theives, began taking new action. Seperating tunnels into their territory, and guarding them with walls and gates, and sometimes collapsing tunnels altogether.

Thoughts and such?

Anyhow, since it's fantasy, wouldn't there be some type of Medieval-Modernish thing going on in Under Dark?

Yeah.

Mushroom farms, water systems needing to be fixed, evil guying wanting to rule the underdark, treasure hunting, monster slaying, choice making, ETC.

Well, I wouldn't say guns.

I wanted to leave the people of the Under Tunnels in the medieval, but not entirely medieval.

But knives is a definite.

Yeah, that'd work. And, how about we make sure that some of the "magic" can be used for more... destructive purposes, not directly, but in a different way.

Weapons and armor. Well, for Surface Dwellers, they will have little to NO armor, but they will have rifles, pistols, guns of WWII.

For the people of the Tunnels, they use Medeiveal weapons. But special metals in the tunnels give these weapons properties, such as electricity, fire, ice, etc.

Body armor existed in WW1 and 2 but weren't used due to the armor being to bulky and heavy. So, yeah.
